Högfors ironworks, founded in 1820, has been the location of an active metal industry until recent times. The old industrial buildings, the workers’ homes and the ironworks manor with its surrounding park landscape make up the historical platform and set the scene for the museums in Karkkila. Today, Högfors Blast Furnace, Karkkila-Högfors Workers’ Museum and the Foundry Museum of Finland combine to form the Karkkila ironworks museum Senkka, a museum specialising in the history of the foundry industry.
